So come June I am going on a trip with Feral, the Baltimore Boys, and Debi to see wolves (yay). Loking over flights now and expedia has disappointed me. I expect it to flind me the cheapest flights and yet it does not. A two second search over at Jet Blue revealed a flight that is about 30 dollars cheaper. Now this does mean I have to go down to the city to fly out but a non-stop flight is always worth a little extra work. And this option is way cheaper then the drive both in time and gas money. I will miss having my car though. Actually if all flight on jet blue are this cheap I might be flying more frequently. They go in and out of Stewart too but with a much more limited range. Wonder if they go to Omaha? Nope and Newburgh only goes to FL bleck! JFK goes all over the place though. Yay for the win. Ooo flight to Aruba!

Are you flying to columbus or Indianapolis? (Either way you'll need a ride to wolf park.)

Yeah I thought you were kosher with picking me up? I was gonna do columbus. Which is easier for you. Not sure Jet flys through Indianapolis? I didn't actually book it because I wanted to talk traveling times with you. ^_^ Though I suppose I could see about flying down and meeting Feral. Damn and the Baltimore Boys are flying as well. Hmm must work together. like the A-team only cuter.

Oh, I'm very kosher with it. I just want to know which airport I'm picking you up at. I would prefer columbus because then I get more Seo time, but if Indianapolis is cheaper then do that one.

Also, statistically, the best ticket prices are found 20 days before the flight leaves.

I'm on a cute A-team? Score!

Swag that's where I figured I'd come in. I figured the day before and after would be easiest so we can get there on time. Have to figure out hotels and stuff too. Oh well the deals are pretty choice right now. I'm getting prices at under a 100 dollars. Not bad for a nonstop round ticket. Of coruse ti means I have to get to JFK but I think there is a bus or train or something around ehre to there. Not gonna take my car into the city if I don't have to.

We are so the cute A-Team. You can be Face, I'm claiming Hannibal, the BBoys can be B.A., and Feral can be Murdock. A much cuter (and crazier) A-Team me thinks. Now we have to go modifiy my car. Bwhaha

HAHA. So hey, should I fly into Ohio or go straight to Indianapolis and rendesvous with people there? I'm trying to figure the best course of action, as I plan on nailing everything down (tickets, Wolfpark registration, etc.) by March.

Probably easier if we all fly into one airport or meet up at one airport. I'm doing mine in March too, when I get my tax refund. If we both fly in early thursday to the same airport it makes meeting up pretty easy.

From: [identity profile] dogemperor.livejournal.com

Meeting up at the Indy airport will probably be easiest--I won't be flying in, obviously (it's a little nonsensical when it's all of *an hour or two north of here*) but it's easier to get up there than to Columbus from here (since pretty much ALL flights, save for a few flights from Southwest and a few flights to DFW, from Louisville are all on Fisher-Price regional jets to hubs and I'd likely be flying from Louisville to Detroit or BWI to Columbus :D)

OKay since we aren't flying into that airport it will probably be easier to meet you at the hotel. Once we you know have one set up LOL.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

Bwahaha - I love it!

And yeah, my 'plan' (if by daydreaming and scheming we can call it a plan) was to leave around 10 or 11 AM on Thursday with a car full of people. That will get us to the hotel around 2 or 3 (check in time). Then we can go see the wolves (we get free yearly memberships for attending the event), or we can hop in the car and go a couple more hours north to Chicago and see what sort of trouble we can inflict upon it. (I've never been to Chicago, although I'm sure I can find kink trouble to get into, I'm not sure about other stuff.) Either way, get to sleep reasonably early thursday night.

Do the wolf park thing, then drive back to my place and spend the night there on Sunday. Monday you guys can fly out, and if your flight is late enough we can try to get in trouble in columbus as well.

But there should be 3 nights of hotel. There are 5 of us, so probably 2 rooms unless someone wants a cot or we can find a suite for cheaper than the cost of 2 rooms. I'd also like a minifridge for snacks.

There are five of us now? Who is the fifth? Do i know um? Swag more people

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

There are the baltimore boys, you, me, and your friend coming from Kentucky, right?
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

Oh sorry thought I made that a little clearer. The Baltimore Boys are a multiple system. Which hopefully they won't strangle me for mentioning though they are pretty open. One physical body so that gives us a body count (he he) of four still.

From: [identity profile] technobushi.livejournal.com

Trust me, we're fine with it. We're more concerned with freaking out your friend there. Heh.

*snugs* I figured as much or I wouldn't have mentioned it here. Hey how close is DC to you for travel? I can get cheap flights to there from JFK too. *hint hint visiting time!!*

From: [identity profile] technobushi.livejournal.com

Not too far. In fact, not far at all seeing as we practically live in the area on weekends (most of our social network resides in the DC/VA area). Let me know, and after the Wolfpark visit we can plan on you coming down here sometime soon.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

Ohhh, got it. Sorry - didn't understand. So 4, which is way easier in one hotel room.
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

*nods* Yeah once you get past four it gets wonky but up to there it is cool. Then again I've done lots in a room before for gathes and cons because we spend so little time in the room it is no biggy.

From: [identity profile] dogemperor.livejournal.com

In regards to Chicago, I know the Field Museum will be opening up an exhibit on the feathered dinosaur discoveries right around March (yeah, got plans to go visit that too sometime this summer :D). And there IS much niftiness to do in Chicago.

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

Try http://www.sidestep.com/
put SWF as your starting airport, they'll automatically include other nearby airports such as westchester, jfk, la guardia, and newark.

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

You're looking at $216 from La Guardia or $286 from Stewart. I presumed you'd arrive the day before and leave the day after the wolf thing, and fly into Indianapolis.

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

And, finally, one more comment. The best time to buy tickets tends to be about 2 months in advance. Right now you're a little less than 4 months in advance. If I pull the ticket dates back 2 months (early april, same days of the week) they go down to $205 from stewart, and stewart's actually the cheapest rate.

So don't nail your airfare down too early or you'll pay more than you have to.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

Actually, the more recent reports show the best time to buy centered around the 20 day mark. That's because on flights that are pretty empty, the airline will start reducing the price at about 6-8 weeks out, hoping for more passengers. At some point around 2-3 weeks out (depends on the airline, passenger load, and time of year), they cut their losses and jump prices to catch the last minute people.

It used to be that you wanted to buy 2-3 months out, before they started playing with the prices. But with so many options, that just isn't as true anymore.

$99 from Columbus to NYC and back is a very good fare, and Jetblue sells out often. I'd grab it soon. She may end up paying an extra $10, but that's way better than missing out and paying $143.
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

Which airlines are you looking at? I'm getting an easy 99 from Jet Blue JFK to Columbus?

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

jet blue flies from JFK, American flies from LGA, both cost $99 to columbus with taxes & fees according to sidestep.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

She should fly jetblue and come into Columbus, where it is only $99. I'm making the drive anyway.

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

Well then, scratch everything I said because that looks like a sale rate that might not exist in 2 months, and it certainly won't get any lower than that :)
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

*grinz* I'll book it soon. I can probably do it off of this pay check without fudging the rent up too much. I'll have plenty of money come tax refund and when my blasted student aide gets here. I was expecting it last week but it isn't coming for another two. Fuckers. So my finanaces are lower then I was expecting right now.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

I say this, not having reserved my space yet. I'll do it with birthday money. :)
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

LOL i think we are all reserving it in March. Which is fine. I'll probably still get the ticket early so it doesn't sell out. Cause that would suck

From: [identity profile] ioldanach.livejournal.com

you might want to contact the reserve and discuss reservations with them, I don't know how quickly they'll fill up and you want to make sure they have 4 slots when you all do actually reserve.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

Very true. I should send an e-mail.

How have you been? I haven't talked to you in a while, either.
ext_52277: (Default)

From: [identity profile] seorgia.livejournal.com

Hey I called, they said they only had two people signed up and that it would be fine to wait til march to sign up. So we should be golden on admission.

From: [identity profile] boundfate.livejournal.com

Excellent. You rock!

And with bringing 4 and 2 already signed up, we know it won't get cancelled. We've met their minimum!

From: [identity profile] dogemperor.livejournal.com

Assuming I have the cash to go, pretty much I can either ride or drive there from Louisville (we don't really have direct flights from Louisville to Indy because it's a short distance from here--maybe an hour or two tops). If need be, I can probably Greyhound it from here.

For those in NYC, probably best option would be to fly to Columbus (since as I understand it, Seo, you'll be having someone pick you up); as for BWI, Indy is a flyable option, as is Louisville (via Southwest).
